Canva Connect : Automations is an app for monday.com that allows seamless export and import of design files between Canva and your monday.com boards. Automate your design workflows with two powerful automation features:
- Export design to monday.com: Export Canva design as files directly into a monday.com file column.
- Import file to Canva: Import files from monday.com assets (files) directly into Canva.

Automate exporting Canva designs to your monday.com board. This feature supports two recipe templates
1.1Export to a Specific File Format
Choose a fixed file format upon setting up the recipe
Choose this recipe if you know exactly what type of file you want to export from Canva Design to monday.com.
Each format has its dedicated recipe with specific settings tailored to that format.
Supported Formats and their setting :
- PDF document: Customize the document format (A4,…)
- JPG image: Customize image quality
- PNG image: Customize page setting
- PPTX presentation: No Customization available
- GIF file: No Customization available
- MP4 video: Customize video quality and orientation

Step 2: Configure the recipe template
After locating the desired recipe based on your export target type, follow the steps below to set it
If you want to customize the trigger, you can find all export recipes in the Automation Center, they have the same structure as outlined in the guide above, create an automation with any trigger that suits your needs at the Automation Center
Step 3: Trigger the recipe
Trigger the recipe by changing the Status Column you selected above to the chosen Status Value or use any custom automation trigger if you prefer to use automation instead of the pre-built integration recipe.
⇒ Once the export process is successfully completed, the exported file will be directly added to the files column you selected in the recipe.
A recipe marked as 'Completed' only indicates that the export process has started, not that it has finished
1.2Export to Dynamic File Format
Choose this recipe for flexible file formats. It lets you set the export format based on a Status Column in your monday.com board, allowing each board item to have its own export format.
Use this recipe if you’re unsure of the export format in advance and want it to be determined by a column on the board for each design.
Note: Choosing this recipe means you will lose the ability to customize settings, which will revert to the default.

2Import file to Canva
Automate importing files from your monday.com board to Canva. This feature supports two import options:
2.1Import file as Canva Design
This option lets you transport files from monday.com board into fresh Canva designs.
Optionally, specify a design title during import to help identify and organize your new Canva designs—simply choose the recipe that best suits your needs
Please note that Canva limits the maximum file size for uploads to 20 MB. This limit may change at any time, and we will notify you if it does

Once you've found the import design automation recipe, follow the steps below to set it up
Step 3: Trigger the recipe
Trigger the recipe by changing the Status Column you selected above to the chosen Status Value or use any custom automation trigger if you prefer to use automation instead of the pre-built integration recipe.
⇒ After the import design process is successfully completed, the selected design link column in the recipe will be updated with the URL of the newly created Canva design
2.2Import file as Canva Asset
This option allows you to transform imported files into reusable Canva Asset.

Step 3: Trigger the recipe
Trigger the recipe by changing the Status Column you selected above to the chosen Status Value or use any custom automation trigger if you prefer to use automation instead of the pre-built integration recipe.
⇒ Once the import asset process is successfully completed, the selected file will be available as an asset on the Canva platform
